The Team

After completing his PhD in Uncertainty Quantification at the University of Manchester, James worked at Manchester-based startup Partful (formerly SamsonVT) as the Data Science Team Lead, managing a team of PhD qualified mathematicians and Data Scientists.
Having worked on a variety of projects, including leading a £1.3m Innovate UK Project over 21 months to build an AI platform from scratch, James has extensive experience in developing novel solutions to problems using machine learning and building performant solutions for a variety of customers.

Jim has been in the Industrial Control and Automation market for over 40 years. After starting his career with an apprenticeship in Electronic and Electrical Engineering at GEC Industrial Controls Kidsgrove, where he spent time in both engineering and sales, Jim then moved to systems integrator Dickinson Control Systems where he became responsible for the national sales of Integrated Automation Solutions.
In 1997, Jim joined Siemens, where he quickly progressed to Sales Director of the Automation and Drives Division (now Siemens Industry). Holding the position for 15 years, Jim was responsible for the Division’s go to market strategy, leading a team of around 100 sales professionals to achieve an annual turnover of circa £200M.
With a deep understanding of the many productivity challenges facing UK industrial manufacturers combined with real insight into the value of applying automation, control and data acquisition into varied manufacturing sectors, Jim has a unique understanding of how industrial businesses can increase their productivity through the adoption of automation and data technologies.

Matt is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect specialising in serverless applications and has worked as an independent consultant in software and technology for 17 years.
During that time Matt has worked with established names in the UK and US including MoneySuperMarket, Swinton Insurance, Coach USA and Stagecoach.
Having led development and software architecture at startups including SamsonVT (now Partful), ByBus and Captec Systems, Matt brings a wealth of experience building highly scalable data pipelines, API’s and web applications.
